OKX Asset Security Whitepaper: 1:1 Reserve Ratio and Cold/Hot Wallet Isolation
The most sensitive question for any digital asset platform is "are users' assets safe?" On August 18, OKX released its 2026 asset security whitepaper, confirming a sustained 1:1 reserve ratio and disclosing the specific mechanisms of cold/hot wallet isolation, multi-signature and proof of reserves (PoR).
Asset security is the foundation of any exchange. Past industry incidents where platforms misused user assets or ran short of reserves have made "proving safety" mandatory. OKX (OUYI)'s whitepaper essentially moves its security mechanisms from internal practice to public commitment.
Cold/Hot Wallet Isolation and Multi-Signature
OKX stores the vast majority of user assets in offline cold wallets, keeping only a small amount for daily withdrawals in hot wallets. Cold wallets are not connected to the internet, physically eliminating remote attack vectors and minimizing the attackable asset exposure.
Cold wallet transfers use a multi-signature mechanism requiring multiple authorized parties to sign. Even if one party's key is compromised, assets cannot be moved unilaterally. Signature authorities are dispersed across different roles and physical locations, further reducing single-point failure risk.
Proof of Reserves: The 1:1 Transparent Commitment
A 1:1 reserve ratio means the platform holds at least as much as users deposit. OKX periodically discloses on-chain asset addresses and user liabilities via PoR, allowing users to verify solvency independently. This self-verification approach is becoming standard among top platforms.
The whitepaper also disclosed the risk protection fund, designed to cover potential losses in extreme cases. Combined with real-time risk monitoring, OKX builds multi-layer protection from storage and signing to monitoring and backstop.
Data and Feedback
A user who has stored assets on OKX for years said: "Reserve proof can be verified independently, and cold/hot isolation and multi-signature aren't just talk. The whitepaper explains it all."
According to the whitepaper, OKX's cold wallet has a zero-incident record, and reserve proofs have been published on schedule for multiple consecutive periods. These are verifiable facts, not exaggerations. Download the OKX App.

Reserve proof can be verified independently, and cold/hot isolation and multi-signature are clearly explained. Much more reassuring.
The zero-incident record is reassuring, and publishing the mechanisms openly is responsible.
1:1 reserve plus a risk protection fund is a double insurance. Asset security is the top priority.
